We provide a fully private, consulting and telepsychiatry practice that embraces our core values. Owned and run by local
psychiatrist, Dr Lindsay Martin, with recent business graduate.

4everMIND consulting provides comprehensive psychiatric assessments and complex care [item 291] planning, including the use of pharmacogenomics in clinical care. Dr Martin does not provide extensive psychotherapy, focusing upon the overwhelming need for optimal assessment and case management. Dr Martin will advise the best therapies according to diagnosis and stage of recovery as a focus of her holistic treatment planning.
Dr Martin additionally offers a Medicolegal Psychiatry Assessment Service drawing upon her extensive forensic experience. Due to our limited availability, we are unable to provide continuing care to these clients.

Dr Martin brings to Cairns, twenty-four years of psychiatric experience and a knowledge base including, but not limited to:
neurodevelopmental disorders (autism and AD/HD), clinical neuroscience, addiction, cognitive neuropsychology, psychoneuroimmunology, and both neuropsychopharmacology and psychopharmacology. Dr Martin has a particular interest in neuropsychopharmacology, psychopharmacology and pharmacogenomics in clinical care. Her scope of experience traverses both public and private sectors, encompassing her work at the Monash Developmental Disorders Assessment Unit, the Early Psychosis Program, the Monash Gender Dysphoria and Refugee Clinics, alongside extended positions with Consultation Liaison Services, and the (CCU) Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit. Indeed, all these roles have required a firm capacity to diagnose and manage patients with complex medical and psychological morbidity.

Dr Martin gained her Medical degree with Honours at Monash University in 1996. She commenced post graduate specialist training in 1999, attained her GME (Neurology) in 2002; and earned a master’s degree in Psychological Medicine in 2004. Prior to her decision to train as a psychiatrist, Dr Martin has completed physician training in Neurology. Dr Martin went on to complete forensic training at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health – Forensicare, under the auspices of Professor Paul Mullen and Dr Douglas Bell. Dr Martin has also completed the Pharmacotherapy Training Program through Turning Point [Victorian Addiction Services]. She has also undertaken training through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (CIME), facilitating competency in impairment evaluations which can be used to provide a more objective understanding of the impact of an injury or illness.

Dr Lindsay Martin also shares a common understanding of defense related issues and their psychiatric manifestations. She has also undertaken trauma and resilience training with US Military Academy WestPoint, Lt. Colonel (USAR, Ret.) Dr Glenn Schiraldi; alongside completing training in EMDR, Medical Hypnotherapy, ECT and Neurofeedback. Dr Martin is a current member of the Australian Federation of Medical Women promoting the gender- divergent experiences. In addition, she holds memberships with the Australian & New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law [ANZAPPL], the Australian AD/HD Professionals Association [AADPA], noigroup [Neuro Orthopaedic Institute], and is an
Approved Practitioner with the Australasian Centre for Eating Disorders [ACFED].

It has often been said Dr Martin’s greatest strengths are her enthusiasm and her detailed understanding of her patients. She
has been praised by both fellow doctors and medical students for her work and teaching achievements.
A prominent vascular surgeon Mr George Somjen once wrote,

“Dr Martin demonstrates interest and ability beyond that required for the usual care of patients”.
